TEACHER’S EVALUATION TOWARD THE IMPACT OF USING
TARTIL METHOD IN TEACHING AL-QURAN IN
PADANG CITY OF WESTERN SUMATERA

This study aims to identify the teacher’s perceptions about the impact of using tartil method on learning attitudes, learning interest and learning achievements of students in teaching Al-Quran. (Exploratory sequential mixed methods designs) has been used as a method of this study. The study was carried out in two phases, the first one used case study through interview method of 8 selected teachers who have experience on teaching Al-Quran using tartil method which used as the data collection, for getting detail information from teachers. The second phase used observation of 115 teachers who also teach Al-Quran using tartil method, this phase was used to identify the teacher’s perception for using tartil method in teaching Al-Quran. Interview data from the first phase were analyzed thematically using NVivo 8 software. While the second phase data were collected using questionnaire which are developed based on the result of interview on the first phase, and analyzed using descriptive statistics from PASW Statistics Windows version 18 software. 33 themes have been emerged from the indepth-interview: twelve themes are related to learning attitudes of the students, nine themes are related to learning interest, and twelve themes are related to learning achievement of students. The survey findings show that all three aspects had scored a very good min: learning attitudes (Min= 4.32), learning interest (Min= 4.14) and learning achievement (Min= 4.10). As aconclusion, the teachers agreed that the tartil method had a positive effect on learning attitude, learning interest and learning achievements of students in the teaching and learning of Al-Quran in Padang city of Western Sumatera.
